At the May 25th service twenty-six people and one dog joined with Julia who entitled her message “Ut Omnes Unum Sint” and spoke using the scripture John 17 :1-2, 14-23. The phrase of the message title means “that all may be one” and is part of The United Church of Canada’s crest.

Julia said that the essence of all things is one, spiritual oneness. During the service, there were different cups shown and filled with water which were expressions of one essence. God is so vast that we cannot fully reach the full essence of God. Julia read a passage from Jeff Foster’s book Falling in Love with Where You Are to further enable this spiritual oneness. Before the Commissioning/Blessing the congregation presented Sophia So with flowers to express our thanks and appreciation for her musical ministry among us.

On Wednesday, May 28th several people gathered to hear Kathy Coutts’ historical presentation entitled “Boom & Bust: The History of Oil in Alberta” particularly in this geographical area.

The June 1st service saw twenty-one worshippers join Julia who entitled her message “I Wanna Know…” _She read from the wisdom book of Job 38:1-41 where God asks Job many questions such as “Job, were you there when I created the world?” There are and remain many things we can never really know and understand. We were given an index card on which to write a question and for the message time these questions were gathered and asked and responded to by Julia and various congregational members. I did not write the questions down and for me as a listener, it was a very meaningful worship experience. What about the rest of you who were present?

Before the end of the service a card along with a bucket of perennial flowers were presented to Shirle in thanks and appreciation for her musical ministry among us.
